Greenleaf Township Shootout Leaves Two Home Invaders Dead

Greenleaf Township Michigan DGU

Most Michiganders probably couldn’t tell you where the tiny Greenleaf Township is. (It’s in the Northwest corner of Sanilac County FYI) However, now, the small town of fewer than 1,000 people has been pushed into the state spotlight after a home invasion turned gunfight that left two criminals dead.

The shootout occurred at around 5:00 AM on the morning of November 19th. According to police reports and 911 dispatches, the incident started as three men broke into a home located in the 4300 block of Holbrook Road. The three men broke into what they thought was a quiet house, but it got loud very quickly as the prepared and armed homeowner opened fire on the invaders.

Unfortunately for the homeowner, the burglars were armed as well and the numbers were not in his favor. Things got even worse for him as the shots rang out and one slug hit him in the leg. But through sheer determination, skill, and no doubt a little luck, the homeowner returned fire and struck 2 of the criminals killing one before he could even get out the front door.

The other would-be robbers attempted to make a break for it towards their vehicle. They sped off, but according to police the truck which had previously been reported stolen in Flint was found in a ditch nearby with another dead suspect inside.

As for the rest, the police made quick work of finding the third man who had escaped the house and also arrested a fourth person they believe to be involved, as well.

And the homeowner? The homeowner was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of the bullet to the leg he took but given the situation of facing down 3 intruders, he was certainly lucky or skilled beyond belief to get out of the situation in as good of shape as he did.
