A Detroit concealed carrier is making headlines this week following the defense of his home from two would-be robbers last Friday morning.
The incident occurred in the 2900 block of Lakewood Street early last Friday morning. The 46-year-old homeowner, whose name has not been released was alerted via a telephone call that someone was attempting to break into his house.
Upon checking to see what was going on, the homeowner found 2 men in the process of breaking in. One of which was a 16-year-old boy and the other an adult male.
As the homeowner saw this and being a licensed CPL holder, the man found his firearm and went to confront the two would-be criminals.
Upon finding the pair breaking in, the CPL holding homeowner fired several shots at them, striking the teenager 3 times. Once in the groin, once in the right arm, and once in the back. He did not strike the man who was alongside the 16-year-old, but the chaos of the shooting caused him to run from the scene as fast as his legs could carry him.
Following the shooting, authorities quickly arrived on the scene where they whisked the young boy to the hospital to attend to his injuries. At the time of this article, he was still in the hospital with critical wounds from the gunshots he received.
As for the other suspect, he has yet to be captured by authorities. The description released by local police was quite vague only describing a black male, who was wearing all black clothing at the time of the incident. Police remain on the lookout for him.
And the homeowner? It appears that no charges will be filed against him because of his acting in self-defense during the incident.
