Father Returns Fire After Son is Shot

Detroit MI—Detroit Police Department (DPD) is investigating a video game deal that went bad in the 20400 block of Honorah Thursday evening.

According to DPD two 15-year-old males had arranged to meet up in front of the sellers home for a video game transaction. Then the buyer attempted to rob the other boy, a struggle ensued resulting in the seller being shot in the face.

The 36-year-old father of the victim, who had been watching from inside the home rushed out and shot the attempted robber multiple times. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police arrived and medics took the son to the hospital where he is listed in serious condition.

DPD officers report recovering two firearms at the scene of the shooting and have detained the father but have not charged him in the death of the 15-year-old assailant until after the investigation is completed.

Having a trauma kit inside your home is a good idea for a multitude of reasons. Especially if you have children, a well-stocked medical bag focused on treating trauma, and the skills to use it if you need to is important.

A trauma medical kit is also a good addition to your home defense preparedness. Hopefully, you or a family member will not be injured in the event of an intruder, or video game deal gone bad. But there are no certainties in combat. And a medical kit might be needed before the police arrive.

While it is impossible to plan for every scenario, a lot of the guess work can be taken out of home defense with proper planning and training. Read here for the Complete Home Defense – Tactics For Defending Your Castle.
