Love Triangle Ends with One Man Dead
Warren, Michigan — A man armed with two guns broke into a home located on Blancke Dr., South of 13 Mile Rd. and was shot and killed early Friday morning.
According to Warren police, a 26-year-old intruder broke into the home through a back window and confronted the 20-year-old son of the homeowner at around 2:30 a.m.
During the brief struggle, the victim was able to wrestle one of the guns away from his attacker. The intruder received a fatal gunshot wound and was declared dead at the scene.
When police arrived, he was discovered laying on the floor with several $100 bills lying around him.
The homeowner’s son was shot twice in a finger and thigh. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but is reported to be stable.
During the course of the investigation, police uncovered evidence that the intruder had not broken into a random home, but was there specifically to hurt the victim.
A search of the area revealed a 29-year-old woman sitting in a car near the home. She was taken in for questioning, uncovering a romantic link between the victim and the intruder, who police say has a violent criminal record.
“We do believe the female in the case had the suspect go in to get even with an ex-boyfriend and take him out,” said Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer.
She was taken into custody and remains in jail, however, there are no reports of charges filed against her at this time.
The victim lived in the home with his parents and two younger siblings aged 10 and 13, who were sleeping upstairs at the time of the shooting.
“This could have been a greater tragedy if they were downstairs,” Dwyer said.
