1 Dead Over COVID-19 Argument

Ann Arbor, Michigan – One person was shot and killed after an argument about the Corona Virus escalated last Thursday night.

According to a statement by Ann Arbor Police Chief Michael Cox, his officers were dispatched to a home located in the 1700 block of Weldon Boulevard at around 9:00 p.m. for a report of shots fired.

When officers arrived, they found two men in the home, one was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds by Huron Valley Ambulance paramedics.

Detectives interviewing the shooter were told he and his roommate were arguing about the restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The fight escalated to the point where the deceased lunged at his roommate with a crowbar, who then shot him multiple times.

Officers took the shooter into custody but said this shooting is not yet being considered a homicide. Chief Cox said there is currently no additional danger to the public as a result of the shooting, and there are no other details at this time other then the investigation is still ongoing.

There have been no reports either way if this argument involved drugs or alcohol.
